December 20, 2017 – Who Do You Think You Are? – Pr. Sonny Shimaoka

Jesus told them, “These claims are valid even though I make them about myself. For I know where I came from and where I am going, but you don’t know this about me.” (John 8:14 NLT)

The overriding theme of today’s reading is centered on the identity of Jesus. Everybody wants to know, who are you and where do you come from, really? And it’s the religious guys that are having the hardest time trying to figure out how they are going to deal with Him. All the outrageous claims that He is making about Himself and His intimate relationship with God, the Father made them so angry that they wanted to kill Him! Thus the question, “Who do you think you are?”

Who am I? Where do I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going when I’m done? I think that everyone at some point in their life will ask these questions. I call them eternal questions. I believe that the Only One Who can answer them is Jesus. He answered them for me. It’s become one of the definitions to me of what it means when He said that the “Truth” would set me free. It’s also become one of my assignments in life. It must continue to be a priority for me to model and communicate this to those who are still asking these “eternal” questions.

Heavenly Father, thank You for helping me to discover who I am. Holy Spirit help me to maintain a focus on my responsibility to live my life in such a way that others will see that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life…In Jesus Name!
