1/24/2018 – Still Wondering?? – Pr. Sonny Shimaoka

Scripture:
Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened. (Luke 24:12 NIV)

Observation:
This verse reminds me of three types of people that I have run across over the years. Heck, I was one of them at one time or another. The first group are people who make things happen. Then there are those who watch things happen. And then finally there are people who wonder what happened!!
I wonder what was going through Peter’s mind as he walked away from the tomb that day. Was he recalling the words of the Lord in Matthew 16, verse 21? “From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of elder, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.”

Application:
I know that I definitely don’t want to be a “watcher” or a “wonderer!” I must be a believer that takes Jesus as His Word, no matter what the circumstances. I’m learning that it’s much safer to walk by faith and not by sight. I must be a believer who is willing to take risks in order for things to happen just like Jesus said.

Prayer:
Holy Spirit thank you for instilling in me a faith that will always be willing to take risks. Heavenly Father I sit in awe and wonder because of your great love for me. I will forever be grateful for Jesus my Lord and Savior.
