10/23/17 – The Source of Life – Pr. Jerri Dizol

Scripture:
He is the God that made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord over heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples, and human hands can’t serve his needs-for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything and he satisfies every need. – Acts 17:24-25

Observation:
The people of Athens thought that Paul was preaching about a foreign God. Some words used were, “you are saying some rather strange things”. They clearly did not know what he was saying or who he was talking about. Yet, they claim to be Christians.

Application:
Although there are people who call themselves Christians, the honest truth is that there are some who really don’t know Him. They have no real relationship with Him, and the importance of faith in Him is not there. God wants to have a true relationship with us. That was His plan from the very beginning. And it is still His plan.

I teetered tottered with my faith for years. I would say that my faith in God was solid, but didn’t live as if it was. It wasn’t until I went through some real tests in life, that I realized that I was fooling myself. And what a wake up call that was! When I was forced to put my money where my mouth was, I began to see the God who created me with new eyes. His love for me became real and, trusting that He is the one who can satisfy my every need, was at the forefront of my mind.

Paul did his very best to convince people that they need to turn from their worldly ways and believe in the one true God who loves everyone. We must do the same, and the best way to do so is to live our love and commitment to Jesus. They will see for themselves that He is for them and not against them.

Prayer:
Father, thank you that we get to be witnesses of your love for all mankind. Thank you that you give many opportunities to share of our faith. Your word is truth, and I thank you for revealing new things each time I read your word. In Jesus Name…Amen.
